Inserting Loose Signature or Sections
Required Materials
• Mending Brush or Mending Sticks
• Plastic or Bone Folders
• Radiant Bond Glue
1 A signature or section is a group of 4
or more complete pages. A book is
made up of a group of signatures or
sections. A loose signature usually
indicates serious trouble with the
sewing and as a rule requires
resewing or rebinding by a
professional bindery.
2 If the book is not to be resewn or
rebound, temporary repairs can be
made by edging each folded page
with Radiant Bond using either a
Brush or a Mending Stick
(Plastic Bone Folder).
3 Apply a strip of Radiant Bond to “V”
opening of book. Replace signature in
proper location and press down with
a Plastic Folder.
