Rising® Unbuffered Photomount Board
Rising was one of the first mills to recognize the need for acid-free, buffered papers and boards that would ensure the life of fine art for future generations. For more than a century, the mill has maintained very high standards for making premium paper. The line is a favourable choice of museum curators, artists and framers because of its unmatched acid-free, archival qualities. These superior qualities come partly from the use of artesian well water, which is high in natural calcium and free of damaging minerals.
This 100% cotton fibre, off-white board is specially manufactured in the neutral pH range without any alkaline reserve or buffering. It is recommended for photographic use where the usual alkaline environment of archival quality matting and mounting boards is considered undesirable, in particular for colour, albumen or dye transfer prints. Also suitable for the conservation of protein based textile products. At time of manufacture, pH value is between 6.8 and 7.5. Since the board is not buffered, a drop in pH value is to be expected when exposed to normal atmospheric conditions.
