Opening a New or Repaired Book
A new book, or one just repaired, is stiff. To avoid damaging the book, follow directions
below for opening.
1 Stand book lengthwise on its back,
holding contents upright. Run thumb
or index finger gently along hinge of
each cover.
2 Score or crease gently 5 or 10 pages
at a time alternately front and back,
starting with outside signatures.
When middle of book is reached,
pages should lay open flat.
